james ive never turned off my car while driving whether in neutral or anything but one of my friends in hs had a r32 and he turned it off while driving home hoping to coast down his street into his driveway...basically he said his steering wheel locked and had to brake hard enough to not hit anything. just a heads up for people wanting to try this on the highway

I've done it before, once on purpose when my accelerator got stuck and one when my car stalled and neither time did my steering wheel lock up. That should only happen if you remove the key from the ignition. Your brakes dont work very well but will still stop you and you can still steer.

Yea you turn it off but you don't actually turn the key all the way to off or take it out of the ignition. You just turn it back a click, far enough to kill the engine. You'll lose power steering but when you're going more than a few mph its not that hard to turn the wheel...

I cant think of a more unsafe part to be defective. Other than maybe if the brake pedal didnt go down.

I don't understand how people that have that problem can't just put the car in neutral and try to slow it down using either the handbrake or e-brake.

That and I'm pretty sure that the computer will say no no after hitting the rev limiter for a good amount of time.

Most cars won't, they'll just bounc off the limiter till they blow up or are turned off.
